The Grown-Up Version of Saturday Morning Cartoons

Saaaaaturday! It’s indisputably the best day of the week, y’all.

I don’t know about you guys, but when I was little I’d wake up each Saturday morning and head to the living room for my favorite weekend ritual: Saturday morning cartoons.

I didn’t watch much of any TV during the week, and Saturday mornings were a glorious aberration from the weekday norm. I’d park myself on the floor in front of the TV for hours, eat some strawberry instant oatmeal (in retrospect, my parents and I now realize how chemically-laden and unhealthy those little packets of deliciousness were, but oh well — there’s no use crying over consumed crappy oatmeal, right?), and have a grand old time.

25 years later, I still love my Saturday mornings. Now they obviously don’t involve cartoons, but they do involve lots of puttering around the interwebz and reading random articles while I have a leisurely cup of coffee. So, with that in mind, here’s a compilation of my favorite articles and blog posts from this week — they span a wide range of categories, but hopefully they’ll provide some Saturday morning entertainment. Enjoy!

I used to LOVE the strawberries n’ cream instant oatmeal packets! Chemical-laden? Maybe. Delicious? Most definitely! I’m not so sure I’d enjoy that artificial fruit flavor so much today, but I will always enjoy the memories. 🙂

This is a great roundup of articles. I just clicked on Women’s Health “Eat This for a Healthy Stomach,” and was surprised to read that the consumption of broccoli my have some gut-strengthening benefits. I’m starting a new diet to help heal my gut, and all cruciferous vegetables are off-limits! Hmm..that’s some food for thought. 😉

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! ❤
